Why you should enrol on an apprenticeship at St Austell Family Group

W hen it comes to kick-starting a new career, getting your foot in the door can seem a little daunting.

Scouring job vacancies and finding you lack the experience or qualifications to fit the grade can be disheartening too – but the route to your dream job could be a lot easier than you imagine.

With a St Austell Family Group apprenticeship, you can gain all the essential skills and qualifications you need through a series of practical, hands-on work experiences and academic-based training.

Fancy working your way to the top in hospitality? Or maybe you see yourself as a budding IT whizz, marketing guru, brewer, or engineer. We have a truly diverse range of career pathways to explore. Here are just a few of the benefits of enrolling in an apprenticeship with us.

Location

You’d be hard-pressed to find more desirable places to work. Our managed pubs, offices, and distribution centres are located in some of the most breath-taking locations in the country – from Cornwall’s dramatic coastline to Devon’s beautiful rural retreats and the urban buzz of vibrant cities such as Bristol and Bath. Those with a thirst for adventure will feel right at home.

Quality training

We won the BII NITA (National Innovation in Training Award) for ‘Best Apprenticeship Programme’ in 2017 and have been shortlisted for the award since. Many of our apprentices have gone on to receive praise and recognition following their graduation. In recent years, Chef Apprentice Brandon Penwarden won ‘Achiever of the Year’ at the 2019 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, and Haydn Rogers earned a place on Business Cornwall’s ‘30 Under 30’ in 2020 after completing his engineering apprenticeship.

Recognition

We love to celebrate our talented team members internally too. Each year, we stage a Big Apprenticeship Lunch at St Austell Brewery. Apprentices from across our managed and tenanted estate get together as we highlight outstanding performances with honours. We also name an ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at our annual Tribute Awards.

Development

With an apprenticeship, you’ll have the chance to establish a career with us. This includes continued access to industry-leading development and training programmes. We’re passionate about delivering excellence in everything we do, providing memorable experiences that inspire and delight every guest that walks through our doors. This is only possible with exceptional team members. That’s why we’re committed to nurturing the talent found in every function of the business. You’ll also have plenty of fun along the way!
