What's on in the South West - July 2022

J uly brings another wave of unmissable festivals and events to the South West. What’s more, St Austell Brewery will be making some special appearances along the way – find out more below!

This month, you can see everything from an orchestra and a DJ performing Ibiza hits on one of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches, to the return of one of the country’s biggest public festivals in Bristol, and opportunities to be in the crowd as globally renowned acts take to the stage across the region.  

 

Stereophonics at Eden Sessions (5th)

The Eden Project undoubtedly ranks among the UK’s most visually impressive concert venues, and a ticket to an Eden Session includes admission to its mesmerising biomes, which are illuminated during the show. This month, it's Stereophonics. The acclaimed Welsh rock band performed at Eden back in 2019 and they’re set to make a triumphant return. Tunes in the Sands (8th - 10th)

A vibrant music festival set on the golden Blackpool Sands in Devon, five miles from Dartmouth. What’s not to like? This mesmerising event takes place against the backdrop of treetops and hills, with the ocean a mere pebble’s throw away. This year’s instalment features Sugarhill Gang, Boney M, and The Hoosiers. There will also be a silent disco, an art installation, and plenty of korev flowing throughout the weekend. Get tickets here. 

 

Bristol Harbour Fest (14th - 17th)

Bristol hosts one of the UK’s largest public festivals, welcoming around 250,000 people to a celebration of the city’s music, maritime, and performance roots. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the four-day festival, and will introduce the theme of ‘Ebb and Flow’. The city’s diverse range of communities will unite in a vibrant display of art and performance across the harbour, while the Bristol Music Stage is set to host a wealth of amazing talent. Penzance LitFest (6th - 9th)

Dubbed ‘the UK’s friendliest LitFest’, Penzance will host the 11th instalment of its popular literary festival this month. Whether you’re a writer or simply a fan of the written word, you’re sure to find something fascinating at this four-day event, with an array of authors, performers, poets, workshops and more in store. The theme for this year’s fest is resilience. Check out what’s on here. 

 

Tropical Pressure Festival (15th - 17th)

A celebration of the rich cultures of Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean will take place at Porthtowan, on Cornwall’s breathtaking north coast. Tropical Pressure Festival is a family-friendly event that brings a fantastic programme of live music, dance, food, and more. The three-dayer promises a ‘more intimate festival experience’, with just 3,000 tickets up for grabs. Get tickets here. 

 

Electric Bay Festival (16th - 17th)

This new weekender takes place on Torquay’s historic seafront. Electric Bay Festival is a dedicated open-air dance music fest that brings international DJs from house, techno, and bass to South Devon. This year’s roster includes Carl Cox, Chase & Status, Hybrid Minds, and Wilkinson. Find out more and get tickets here. 

 

Lusty Glaze Sundowner Sessions (22nd - 23rd)

There are two exciting nights of live music heading to Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay this month. Friday 22nd will see Symphonica and Mr Switch headlining with ‘Ibiza Pub Classics’, fusing a 30-piece orchestra with the bass and beats of a DJ. This is followed by Symphony by the Sea on Saturday 23rd, where a full 40-piece orchestra will perform classic music and popular film scores. Find out more here. 

 

Rock Oyster Festival (29th - 31st)

Jack Stein, our chef ambassador, has teamed up with Rock Oyster Festival to curate a tantalising food line-up that’s sure to cook up a storm by the Camel Estuary. You can expect chef demos, open-fire cooking sessions, masterclasses, and delicious feasts. The music line-up is pretty impressive too, with the Happy Mondays, Passenger, and Laura Mvula headlining the three-day event. Get tickets here.
