Book your seat: Guided Beer Dinner at the Punchbowl & Ladle

A quality beer and a well-paired dish are a match-made in heaven. This September, we’re heading the Punchbowl and Ladle in Feock for an evening of great food, beer and conversation hosted by Georgina Young, Brewing Director at St Austell Brewery.

* Tickets will be priced at £60pp, will all the food and drink as listed included in the evening. The event will take place on the 24th of September, from 7:30pm – 10:30pm.

Georgina joined the team as Head Brewer at Bath Ales in 2019, before being promoted to Brewing Director in 2020, and with over 25 years experience in the brewing industry, will be the perfect host to guide you through an evening of food and beer pairings.

Each course on the menu, developed by Oli Alderson, Head Chef at the Punchbowl & Ladle, will be paired with samples of two beers to allow you to compare and contrast how each carefully selected beer cuts or complements each dish.

The beer pairings include a few of Georgina’s personal favourites, alongside some specials from our Belgium beer range and limited edition brews.

With the dinner taking place during Cask Ale Week, you’ll be greeted on arrival with a choice of two of our cask beers. Choose from one of the nation’s best loved cask brands, Tribute, our longstanding flagship pale ale which is still making waves in the world of beer, 25 years since it was first brewed, or Anthem, our golden pale ale brewed with 100% British ingredients. Whichever you choose, it will be a fantastic way to start the evening.

We hope you’ll join us for what promise to be a brilliant evening celebrating great beer and food. Georgina, Annabell, Oli and the Punchbowl & Ladle team look forward to seeing you there.

What are we serving up?

* Set menu with samples of paired drinks on arrival (please note, these are not full bottle or pint servings)

On arrival, you’ll be met with either a ½ pint of Anthem or Tribute to tantalise your tastebuds ahead of the feast before you. Once you’ve eased into your seat, a mouth-watering starter of pan-seared scallops, cooked in a lemon butter sauce with fennel, spinach and crispy onions will kick off the menu. Served with Baobab and korev, enjoy the distinct flavour profiles of both, noticing how each balances with the delicate flavours of the sea.

For the main event, tuck into a slow-cooked belly of pork, rolled in a herby apricot stuffing, accompanied with Pommes Anna, apple, carrot and celeriac puree, tender-stem broccoli and lovingly finished with a red wine jus. Our two beers will be Hicks and Proper Job, the first offering notes of toffee and fruity biscuits, the latter a powerful and authentic IPA that’s packed with citrus, pineapple, and grapefruit flavours.

To wind down the evening, the team at the Punchbowl will be serving up a decadent chocolate mess. Consisting of dark chocolate coated meringue pieces, with a white chocolate Chantilly cream, raspberry coulis, sour candied orange and fresh raspberries, indulge your sweet tooth. Paired up with our rich and complex Mena Dhu stout against one of the strongest beers we’ve ever brewed, Divine Intervention, rich in mahogany and rich dominating fruits.

Finally, enjoy a selection of West County cheeses alongside Big Job, Proper Job’s stronger big brother, and our Extra Special Tribute, 2024 edition.
