Our bottled beers are brewed in St Austell using locally grown malt and our own unique water supply along with the finest hops and yeast. Once brewed, we handle all aspects of the packaging process in house with 100% of our beers bottled in our own state-of-the-art bottling line.

The bottled beer range continues to develop and grow enabling customers to choose bottled versions of their favourite St Austell Brewery cask ales such as Tribute, Proper Job and HSD, while also allowing us to offer specialist brands for specific occasions and markets such as Clouded Yellow, our award-winning wheat beer, Smugglers Ale, a strong vintage ale made in whisky barrels and Korev, Cornish Lager.

MAIN RANGE

Tribute 4.2% abv

A Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as voted by CAMRA*, and the South West's Favourite cask beer**, Tribute is a popular favourite across Cornwall, the South West and the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine.

Roger Protz, Editor Good Beer Guide, wrote: "Tribute is a magnificent example of a bronze coloured English bitter, with a rich aroma of biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit from the Willamette hops. Juicy malt, hop resins and tangy fruit coat the tongue, while the finish is long and lingering, with a fine balance between malt, hops and fruit, finally becoming dry and bitter."

Voted Supreme Champion Cornish Ale, CAMRA Falmouth Beer Festival 2004.

Winner of the SIBA South West awards 2007.

Admiral's Ale 5% abv (bottle conditioned)

This premium bottle-conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using our own Cornish Gold malt. Locally grown barley is traditionally malted using a special kilning process which develops a deeper intensity of colour and flavour than ordinary barley malt. Blended with both Styrian Golding and Cascade hops, the result is a deep bronze ale with a delicious rich biscuit flavour and a wonderful spicy aroma.

Brewed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar in 1805.

IBC_Silver_2012Awarded a Silver medal at the International Beer Challenge 2012.

Gold Winner at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival 2010.

Clouded Yellow 4.8% abv (bottle conditioned)

Pale yellow in colour and naturally bottle conditioned, the beer may be poured cloudy by gently swirling the last few inches to rouse the natural yeast sediment. Alternatively, clear beer can be decanted carefully leaving the yeast behind. Serve cool in a long glass to experience the true citrus overtones which have been delicately flavoured with whole spices and vanilla.  Roger Protz, beer writer, described Clouded Yellow on the Radio 4 Food Programme as: "Lovely...rich, spicy, slightly peppery and marmaladey on the nose." Chef and beer with food writer Richard Fox said "The natural citrus element of the beer contrasts favourably with fish dishes."

An award winning, quite unique wheat beer, Clouded Yellow derives its name from a migrant butterfly found visiting the UK during the summer months.

Winner of the Design & Packaging award at the International Beer Challenge 2009.

Awarded a Bronze medal at the Taste of the West Competition 2009.

Smugglers 6% abv (bottle conditioned)

A very special bounty indeed, Smugglers is a unique blend of dark ale and oak-aged barley wine. This strong beer is brewed and racked into oak whisky casks before being hidden away in our cellars. During its long slumber the beer undergoes an extraordinary transformation, emerging rich and complex with hints of whisky, creamy vanilla, toffee and spice.

A blend of oak aged barley wine and dark ale brewed from natural Cornish spring water, Maris Otter pale ale malt, Crystal and Roasted malts, dark brewing sugar, First Gold, Fuggle, and Styrian Golding hops, coriander and our own Brewer's yeast.

Korev 4.8% abv

Ko•rev (cor-eff) n. traditional Cornish word meaning beer.

It’s taken us nearly 160 years to create the perfect lager, and we wanted to make sure it was uniquely Cornish. Crafted at our brewery in St Austell, we’ve used the finest lager malt from barley grown right here in Cornwall. Korev has a wonderful pale colour and a clean, crisp taste, bottled in amber glass to protect the freshness. We think you’ll agree it’s been worth the wait.

1913 Cornish Stout 5.2% abv

Stout has not been brewed at our Brewery since rationing during the Great War restricted the availability of the dark malt used in these beers. We have meticulously researched our oldest brewing journals to recreate one of our most popular beers from 100 years ago.

1913 Cornish Stout is rich, full, smooth and chocolaty, yet is ligth on the palate with no lingering bitterness.

Big Job 9.0% abv

If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing.
Big Job is a BIG beer, 9.0% alcohol, dry as a bone and jammed full of Cornish barley and as many Citra and Centennial hops as we could get our hands on. It’s not subtle, but if you love the taste of big, powerful hops Big Job will be just the Job for you!

Cardinal Syn 8.0% abv

The beer produced by the monks at Abbaye Notre Dame de St Remy near the village of Rocheforte in southern Beligium make, in my opinion some of the best beer in the world.  Such beers are the inspiration for Cardinal Syn, an Abbey style Dubbel (8.0%) brewed with pilsner malt, along with crystal malt, roasted malt, demarara sugar and dark caramel.  It is hopped with German Perle, Hersbrucker and Slovenian Celeia with a little coriander to spice, and dry hopped with Slovenian Dana.  The beer has been fermented with Trappist Ale yeast and matured for three months in stainless steel casks before being primed, re-seeded with St Austell Ale yeast and hand filled into 750ml bottles.  The resultant beer is dark auburn with highlights of ruby red.  The aroma and taste is a mix of rich spice caramel and dark treacle and complex fruit esters.  The beer would be best served in a chalice or large wine glass matched with a rich Brussels pate or dry cured ham served with fresh baked bread.

Adrian Tierney-Jones describes it as follows: "It reminded me of Rochefort — liquorice and sweetness and earthy bitter hops; but it’s also a big bruiser of a dark beer, in which I also detected hints of sarsaparilla on the bittersweet palate; also present: hazelnut, marzipan, Demerara sugar and a faint, edge of palate rich orange note that is there and then is not there. The finish is a big, boisterous mouth-filling cathedral of flavour that lingered long after I put the glass down. Loved it!

Bad Habit 8.5% abv

Bad Habit is an Abbey style Triple (8.5%).  Inspired by the classic Belgian Tripel epitomised by the brothers at Abdij der Trappisten van Westmalle near Antwerp, it is paler and stronger than a dubbel.  Brewed with Pilsner malt, malted wheat, malted oats and light sugar, it is hopped with US Citra and Slovenian Dana, and spiced with coriander, dried orange peel and Grains of Paradise.  Like Cardinal Syn it has been matured for three months and bottled by hand.  The beer pours burnished gold, with a complex and enticing aroma of Easter spices and bitter orange marmalade and a dry finish.  The beer should be enjoyed in moderation served elegantly in a chalice or large wine glass, and would make the perfect accompaniment to a creamy, mature soft cheese.
